Here is a simple recipe so you can make your own momos:
Ingredients for the momos:
- 250 g flour
- 150g mixed vegetables (e.g. carrots, cabbage, spring onions), finely chopped
- 200 g minced meat (optional)
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1 piece of ginger (approx. 2 cm), finely chopped
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water for kneading the dough
For the Chipeño Sauce:
- 4 tbsp chipeño sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
Preparation of the momos:
- To make the dough, put the flour in a bowl and gradually add water to knead a soft dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the chopped vegetables (and minced meat, if using) with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and pepper.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll out into thin circles (approx. 10 cm in diameter).
- Place a tablespoon of the vegetable mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough around the filling and seal the edges well by making small folds.
- Cook the momos in a steamer or steamer basket for about 10-12 minutes until the dough is cooked through.
Preparation of the chipeño sauce:
- Place the chipeño sauce in a small bowl and mix with soy sauce and rice vinegar.
Serve:
- Serve the steamed momos warm with the chipeño sauce for dipping.
Enjoy your homemade momos with the irresistible chipeño sauce!
